Of Washington DC formerly of Martinsburg, WV passed away on December 16, 2013.
Mrs. Nash was born on March 30, 1930, in Vincennes, IN daughter of the late George Hunter and Mildred Orndorff Hunter. As a small child she moved with her parents to Martinsburg, WV where she graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1946. She then attended the former Dumbarton College of the Holy Cross in Washington DC, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1950. She worked in the office of the US Comptroller General while attending law school in the evening. Her career changed when she met and married her cherished husband, Jim. Eight children followed. While devoted to her family, she also opened her heart to anyone who sought her care and compassion. She was an active member of the Sanctuary Sodality of the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, the Christ Child Society, and the Girl Scouts of America.
In addition to her husband of 61 years, James, she is survived by her three daughters, Ellen Foster (Tim), Mimi Somerville (Scott), and Peggy Iraola (Roberto), and five sons, James Nash, Frank Nash (Jenny), George Nash (Michelle), Jerome Nash, and Patrick Nash (Emily) as well as by 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Friends and relatives are welcome to call at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church Parish Center, 3630 Quesada St. N.W. 20015 on Friday, December 20 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21 at 11 a.m. Private burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Smyth Scholarship Fund, Blessed Sacrament School, 3630 Quesada Street NW, Washington, DC or the Christ Child Society, 5101 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Suite 304, Washington, DC 20016, www.christchilddc.org.
