HUEBNER CATE "Pat" Patricia "Pat" Smith Huebner Cate, of Washington, DC, died Saturday, October 18, 2014, at The Washington Home. Pat was born on February 20, 1929, in Bethlehem, PA to the late Elizabeth Davidge Smith Huebner and James Mosser Kistler Huebner. She graduated from the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA and Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, MA. Pat dedicated much of her personal time throughout her life to volunteer work within her community and her church. She served as the President of the All Hallows Guild at Washington National Cathedral. One of her noteworthy accomplishments was supporting the restoration of the antique carousel used during Flower Mart, which included her serving as Chairman of the Carousel Committee during the final stages of the restoration. She also served as a Co-Chairman of Flower Mart at Washington National Cathedral. Pat was a member of the Junior League of Washington, the Junior League Players, and the Sulgrave Club. She had also been a volunteer at The Washington Home. She is survived by her husband Joseph Nelson Cate, brother James M. K. Huebner and his wife Connie of Burlingame, California. Pat is also survived by her niece Suzanne Davidge Huebner Gulick and her husband Christopher of Grass Valley, California, and her three nephews James M. Huebner III of Reno, Nevada; David deWolfe Huebner and his wife Andrea of Pacifica, California; John P. Huebner of Alexandria, Virginia, great nephew Peter Huebner of Virginia, great niece Mikala Anne Huebner of Reno, NV, and her god-daughter Margaret R. Mossman of Maryland. She was predeceased by her brother John D.P. Huebner and his wife Carolyn, and her niece Stephanie E. Huebner. Burial will be private in Binghamton, New York. In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made in Pat's name to All Hallows Guild - Washington National Cathedral - 3101 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20016; St. David's Episcopal Church - 5150 Macomb St. NW, Washington, DC 20016; or The Washington Home & Community Hospices, 3720 Upton St. NW, Washington, DC 20016.
