Mary Chaconas Yeonas

On Friday, April 5, 2013, MARY YEONAS passed away peacefully at her home in Arlington, Virginia. Mary was born in Washington, DC on March 21, 1918, the daughter of James and Athena Chaconas. Beloved and devoted wife of Constantine "Gus" Yeonas; loving mother to Lynn Gershowitz (Sylvan), George Yeonas (Marjorie); grandmother to Maria Kelly (Chris), Nikolas Scalise (Michelle), Christina White (Landon) and Connie Muir (Robert); great grandmother to Sophia, Alexander, Olivia, Ava, Lyla, Caroline and James. Mary was predeceased by siblings, Harry, Louis, Constance, George and Nicholas. Mary will be dearly missed by cherished family and friends. Family will hold a visitation at the Joseph Gawler's Sons Funeral Home, 5130 Wisconsin Ave., NW Washington, DC on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m with prayers at 7:30pm. Services will be held at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th Street, NW Washington, DC on April 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
