Mary Lusby Scott

Mrs. Scott was born in Washington, DC on March 21, 1927 to Charles and Mary Catharine Steinbraker Lusby. She attended Sidwell Friends (Class of 1945) and the University of Richmond. She spent 11 years working for a Washington newspaper correspondent and then worked for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System for 37 years before retiring.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Winfield (“Pete”) Scott; her parents, Charles and Mary Catharine Lusby; her brothers, Charles Lusby, Jr and Robert F. Lusby. She is survived by her nephew, John Lusby of Clinton, SC; her niece, Melissa Lusby of Chattanooga, TN and numerous friends.

Mrs. Scott’s funeral will be held at Joseph Gawler’s Sons Funeral Home (5310 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC. 20016) on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 10 am. Internment will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery (201 Allison Street NW, Washington, DC 20011).
