Linda J. Morgan, 63, of Bethesda, MD, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family on November 4, 2015. She had struggled intermittently with steadfast determination against triple-negative breast cancer since 2011 and, ultimately, passed from disease complications. Over the course of her life, Linda touched the lives of many. She was an active member of her Sidwell Friends School, Vassar College and Georgetown Law alumni communities, trustworthy friend, and devoted wife to Michael Karam and adored mother by Meredith Karam. Not a day went by when Linda did not think of her family and how she could make the lives of those around her better.
In addition to her personal life, Linda had a successful professional life. She practiced law in Washington, DC, and was a member of the Canadian Pacific Railroad Board of Directors. She was the first female General Counsel of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and served as the last Chairman of the Interstate Commerce Commission and the first Chairman of the Surface Transportation Board. She was a devoted public servant and work was her life’s vocation.
Her family, friends, and colleagues will miss her insightfulness, determination and integrity, and always cherish the times they shared with her. To honor Linda’s life, the family will receive friends at Joseph Gawler’s Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Ave., NW (corner of Harrison Street), Washington, DC. (Valet Parking) on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:30 pm and from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Little Flower, 5607 Massachusetts Avenue, Bethesda, MD on Wednesday, November 11 at noon. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the breast cancer research program at Sibley Memorial Hospital in memory of Linda Morgan (https:\\sibleyfoundation29887.thankyou4caring.org\in-memory-of-linda-morgan), Montgomery Hospice, or the Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Foundation.
