It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother and grandmother, Jeanne Gabrielle Quenin Sage who passed away peacefully at 98 years old in her own home Monday, January 25th, 2021 with her family and caregivers by her side.
Jeanne was born on October 3rd, 1922 in La Tronche, in South Eastern France; and was married for 60 years to Georges Pierre Sage who predeceased her in 2010 in Manosque, France.
Jeanne, also known as ‘Nano’ to family and friends, was a long-time resident of Washington DC where she worked for many years at the French Military Mission, with the French Embassy. She was intelligent, kind, loved to laugh and share stories with those around her for whom she cared deeply. Her talent showed in the many beautiful oil paintings she created. She also enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble with her close friends, and singing in the choir at the neighborhood French Parish. Nano missed her family in France and visited them regularly. In time, her ashes will rest in the family cemetery in Montelimar, France.
A Memorial mass will be held during the summer at the French Parish, La Paroisse Saint Louis de France in Washington DC. The exact date will be determined later, according to pandemic guidelines.
Jeanne touched many lives; she will be profoundly missed by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her children: Michel Sage, Roland Sage, and wife Manuelle Caput, and Laurence Sage, and husband John Haber; and her grandchildren, Hadrien, Sophie and Rosanna.
