Jim was a proud lifelong resident of the Bethesda, MD area. He had a fulfilling career as a computer programer. You could often find him with his sleeves rolled up ready to help anyone in need. Jim had helped many friends renovating homes in the area. He was always the first one to help and last one to ask for anything in return.
He was survived by his wife Vicki Porter, son James Irwin Porter III (Jacquie Porter), daughter Jessica Porter, and two grandchildren Michael and Ella Porter (who lovingly called him “Pops”).
A memorial service will be held on September 16th at 2:00pm at Pilgrim Lutheran Church 5500 Massachusetts Ave, Bethesda, MD 20816. In lieu of flowers you may consider making a donation in Jim’s name to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society http://events.lls.org/pages/nca/jamesporter , an organization that our family has both been effected by and supported for years.
