Died November 7, 2018, at Sibley Hospital in Washington, DC. Jim had been ill with kidney disease and had begun dialysis in the hospital. The cause of death is listed as complications of Nephrotic Syndrome. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Friedley Griffith, and his brother John Griffith of Houston, TX. Two other siblings predeceased him. Jim was born to Boyce and Frances Griffith in LaFollette, TN, and graduated from the University of Tennessee. He worked as a consulting mechanical engineer for many years, and he and Carol lived in Chevy Chase DC for 50 years. They moved last year to Five Star senior residences on Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase MD. His body will be cremated, and no service is planned at this time. Jim's favorite local charity was Central Union Mission (www.missiondc.org), which does exemplary work with the homeless and hungry.
