George Edward West Jr.

George Edward West, Jr passed away on Thanksgiving evening, November 28, 2024. He was born in Washington, D.C. on December 12, 1929 to George Edward and Margaret Sweeney West. He joined the marines as a 16 year old in September 1946, and served overseas. When he returned to D.C. he joined the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department in 1951. He retired after 27 years as a Captain. He married Mary McCarthy in 1951 and had 5 children. George III, Patti Sullivan, Michael “aka Fuzzy”, Daniel and Robert. He had 15 grandchildren. Kate Sullivan, Robert Jr, Christine McGrath, Maggie Sullivan, Cari Riccini, Sara Weschler, Kellie Donoghue, Hilary Cunningham, Colleen McCombs, Daniel Jr, (deceased), Emilee, Patrick Sullivan, Mary Rice, Becky and Shannon. Visitation is at 10a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 9200 Kentsdale Drive, Potomac, Md.
