Gail was an active in area churches, as a regular lector at Washington National Cathedral and as a volunteer with a food program for people who are homeless. She did prodigies of service to many people, most notably attending every medical appointment with a friend facing breast cancer.
Born Nov. 10, 1948, in London, Gail attended university in England and worked as a journalist there before joining the Chronicle’s staff.
Gail is a survived by a sister, Adele Fuller, and brother-in-law, David Fuller, both of Crowthorne, England; a niece, Sarah Slevin, of London, and a nephew, Gareth Slevin, of Bracknell; and two stepsons, Adam Lewin and Jonathan Lewin, both of Oxford. She was a beloved friend to many.
Funeral services will be held at Washington National Cathedral at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 22.
For those of Gail's friends who will be coming to the funeral service at the National Cathedral, Washington DC. Please note that the Cathedral do not permit flowers. As a significant part of Gail's life revolved around the Cathedral - she worshipped, worked and volunteered there, and made many friends there too - so Gail's family would like to ask those people who would like to donate in Gail's memory, then please donate to the Cathedral. There will be the opportunity to do this at/after the funeral service.
