Longtime resident of Chevy Chase, Maryland and Sherwood Forest, Maryland, died peacefully in her home on December 9, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. She was 83.
Dottie was born on April 23, 1933 to Frederick and Dorothy Cahill Stohlman. She was the youngest of three children, including siblings Frederick Stohlman Jr. and Mary Victory Stohlman. She attended The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament School and Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School in Washington, D.C. and then St. Joseph's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. She was also a passionate member of numerous Washington area charities and organizations. A lifelong parishioner at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, she was in charge of creating arrangements for the parish's sanctuary flowers for decades as a further expression of her faith.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, and matriarch in every sense of the word, Dottie is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Tom, and her adoring family; including her six children, Tom (Suzie), Mike (Jeanne), Bill (Liz), Jim (Tita), Kate (Jim, predeceased) and Sharon; nieces and nephews Bernadette, Fred, Jeannine, John and their families; and her 15 grandchildren who called her Grammy; Shannon, Kaely, Brendan, Luke, Bridget, Claire, Patrick, Molly, Lauren, Matt, Amy, Sean, Katie, Brian and Tommy.
