Charles Ayers Schneider of Washington, D.C, the son of John Thomas and Sarah Thomson Schneider, passed away on Monday, October 23rd at the age of 78. Born in New York, NY on Oct 3rd, 1945, he would grow to become a scholar, philosopher, Navy lieutenant, attorney at law, husband, father, and grandfather. Charles graduated from Vanderbilt University, then joined the US Navy as an ensign. After a tour in Vietnam aboard the USS Sanctuary, he returned to Memphis, TN, where he met his future wife, Marty. Together they enrolled in the University of Memphis School of Law. Charles and Marty married on March 2nd, 1972. They both graduated in the spring of 1974, and moved to Washington, D.C. where they practiced law until retirement. In retirement Charlie and his wife were frequently found sailing in Bahamian waters. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, his children Christopher and Anthony, his sister Laura, and his grandchildren Elliott and James Blake. The family will be holding a private celebration of Charles’s life.
