Catherine Gorman Waters, a retired U.S. Public Health Service Officer, passed away on September 12th at her home in Washington DC at the age of 84. She had lived in Washington since 1959. Upon graduating from Seton Hill College, she received her commission in 1949. A Clinical Research Dietician, Capt. Waters served most of her 30-year career at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Following her retirement from the U.S. Public Health Service, she joined the staff of Iona Senior Services, an area non-profit organization dedicated to elder care. She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Georgetown.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Paul F. Waters; her sister, Claire Billick, of Pittsburgh; her six children, John B. Waters of Washington DC, Maureen E. Quigley of Boston, Sarah M. Zic of Baltimore, Kathleen M. Waters of Annapolis, Patrick T. Waters of San Diego, and Steven L. Hok of Silver Spring; and five grandchildren.
