Dear Family,
Ann was an extraordinary human being.  She was my loyal friend. My daughters and I have great memories of adventures with Ann Hopkins ....soccer practice in "Pennsylvania",  Girl Scout meetings and cookies "melting" on my sunny porch, hanging out, celebrating long and hard-fought victories in the courts, dinners... to name a few.  We will miss the strong, funny, smart woman she was.

"Ann Hopkins was my grandmother, my memories of Ann were small ones, sure there were others, but my favorite were the small ones. Like sitting with her, watching politics and listen to her complain about Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I could go on and on, but the point is, I love Ann, she was the best damn grandmother anyone could ask for."

Ann was so kind and gracious and opened her home to my son Mark during his last three years of college while he attended American University.  He was Peter’s roommate and I can not imagine how difficult it was for her during that time.   She was truly kind and compassionate. May she be at peace .  My deepest thoughts and prayers to Tela, Gil and her grandchildren.   Respectfully,  Betsy Parisi

I am shocked and saddened at the news of this loss.  There was a time, when we were neighbors and best of friends, that we shared everything.  I remember swimming one hot day in Rock Creek with kids and dogs.  I remember roller coaster rides at Kings Dominion.  There were parties after every court event, no matter what the outcome.  The only time I have ever been to the Supreme Court was with Ann and children.  There was a memorable trip to Cologne and Paris.   I have shared her book and her story with many, many people.  

Tela and Gilbert, I see in the paper that there are five grandchildren!  I hope there may be an occasion to meet them and see you again.  In the meantime, please know that I am grieving with you.
