She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Butler, Sr. they had been married for 64 years. Born in Providence, on January 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Ralph H. Tacey Sr. and Ruth H. (Shepard) Tacey.
Virginia worked at Citizens Bank for 27 years, retiring in 1996 as Assistant Vice President of Night Operations.
She is survived by her five children, Joseph P. Butler Jr. (Joyce) of Cranston, Patricia L. LeBlanc (Michael) of Coventry, Sheila A. Guy (William) of Greene, Jean F. Card (Steven) of Coventry, and Patrick M. Butler (Kimberly) of Cumberland. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her brother Ralph H. Tacey of Portland, CT.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5-7 p.m. Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Barnabas Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
