Predeceased by her parents, Esora Evelyn Hollis MacDonald and Roderick MacDonald, Sr.; Brother Roderick Jr. and his wife Mary Frances MacDonald.
She is survived by twin sons, James M. Tweed, wife Pamela and their son Cameron James Tweed of Warwick, RI; and Joseph M. Tweed, wife Kelly and their daughter Collins Tweed of Wyckoff, NJ; as well as, many cousins and close friends across the country.
As a young woman, Joanne worked at Rose Acres Inn, Chatham, MA, as an assistant to the manager; and later as a teller at the Chatham Trust Company, Chatham, MA, for many years.
Joanne grew up in Chatham, MA, graduating from Chatham High School and Cape Cod Secretarial School. Music was a very important part of her life. Joanne played flute and piccolo in the school orchestra, Junior Community Band, and Lower Cape Symphony under the direction of Thomas Nassi, and as her private instructor.
She loved entertaining family and friends at cook-outs, luncheons, dinners, and holiday parties; as well as, baking goodies for them. Her kitchen was a favorite place to be. She also enjoyed knitting, crewel work, and hooking rugs.
Joanne treasured having family antiques in her home and the memories they brought her. Her greatest joy in life however, was the birth of her sons and later grandchildren.
The celebration of Joanne’s life will take place at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home,142 Centerville Rd, Warwick, RI 02886, on Saturday, August 10th from 11:00 am-12:00 pm. A private burial at Union Cemetery, 989 Main St, Chatham, MA 02633, will take place at the convenience of the family.
