He was the beloved husband of Patricia “Pat” (Savastano) Maynard for 2 wonderful years, 64 years total.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Herbert A. and Mary (Kozusko) Maynard.
Mr. Maynard proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a graduate of Johnson & Wales University and had worked for the U.S. Postal Service in the main Providence branch for 36 years before retiring in 2000. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved telling jokes. He even organized in the early 80s a very successful Naugahyde hunt.
Along with his wife, he leaves his loving children, Michele Moore and her husband Mark, Robin Lawrence and her husband John, and Christopher Maynard and his wife Stacey, and the late James W. Maynard Jr.; his cherished grandchildren, Krista Robinson and her husband Stanley, Emily Oakley, Angela Oakley, Michael Moore, Peter Lawrence, Morgan Lawrence and Alexandra Maynard; and his great-granddaughters Mya and Gwen Oakley. He was the brother of the late Herbert A. Maynard Jr. and Edward M. Maynard.
Visitation and funeral will be held Wednesday from 8:30-10:00 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
