Priscilla Kutcher, age 92, passed peacefully on January 28, 2024. She was born Priscilla Zoe Philomena Lemoi, daughter of the late Eduard F. Lemoi and Exilda (Mondina) Lemoi Caisse. She was raised and rooted in Warren, Rhode Island, the place she forever considered home. She was the baby sister to four brothers and four sisters, and was the last of that proud generation of French Canadians, who filled her early life with French songs and laughter.
As a young girl, Priscilla was a dedicated student who loved to write. At her sister Rosanne’s request, she became pen pals with a young skinny private serving in the Korean War who later became the love of her life, husband and solemate, Theodore (Ted) John Kutcher. She remained steadfastly by his side for 52 years, taking care of him in sickness and in health until the time of his passing.
She was the loving mother of “CookieBetsyNancyTeddyJoeTomRose”, also known as: Marie Gordon (Matt) of Denver, Colorado; Elizabeth Kutcher (Deborah Chartier) of Warren; Nancy Randall (Allan) of North Kingstown; Theodore Kutcher, Jr., (Alison) of Narragansett; Joseph Kutcher (Mary) of Wakefield; Thomas Kutcher (Jessica) of North Kingstown; and Rose Williams (Troy) of Wakefield. She was a phenomenal mémère and she will be greatly missed by her 17 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many, many nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to her as Aunt Pucky.
Priscilla was a voracious reader and consumed all of Shakespeare’s works while still in High School. She could flawlessly recite passages from his many plays up until her passing. She loved poetry, especially Emily Dickinson, and enjoyed reading from her immense collection of books and poems. She wrote beautiful and thoughtful poetry and loved sharing her poems with her children and grandchildren. She had a great wit and sharp mind, and absolutely crushed any crossword puzzle she ever came across.
She loved music and would often harmonize with her husband, Ted. There was a piano in the parlor and there was always music playing in their house on Bradford Street. She knew all the big band standards from the swing era, but she also loved to sing along to the music her kids brought home, from the Beatles to Billy Joel to the Police.
She lived her life with unwavering empathy, and her ability to see the world through the eyes of those less fortunate will always be an inspiration to anyone who knew her. She dedicated her life to her children, always putting herself last. She always said that she was blessed by her family, but we are certainly the ones who were blessed. She enriched the lives of all who knew her, and everyone who knew her loved her more than she could ever know.
Her memorial service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 3:30 PM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street Warren, RI. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM, prior to the service. Burial will be private.
