Joseph A. Chianesi passed away peacefully on 12/6/20 just weeks shy of his 90th birthday. He was the son of the late John & Victoria Chianese and beloved husband of 58 years to Anna (Damiano) Chianesi. He also leaves two daughters, Jo-Ann Luongo and her husband Tony of Rehoboth, MA and Ann Marie Sisti and her husband Tony of Berlin, CT, along with four grandchildren Andrea & Ally Luongo and Anthony & Julia Sisti. Joe is predeceased by all of his siblings: Frank, Anthony, Anna (Salvo), Angelo and John Chianese. He also enjoyed a close relationship with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred & Pat Vinhateiro.
Born on 12/23/30, a lifelong resident of Barrington, Joe graduated from Barrington High in 1949, a life-long parishioner of Holy Angels Church and a long-time member of the Barrington Democratic Club. Joe loved to joke and tease and especially loved his friends and the folks from his “Maple Ave” neighborhood.
Joe was employed by Washburn Wire Company in Rumford for 25 years and then by the Bristol County Sherriff’s Dept. until retiring in 1996. A veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1952-1954 and always supported the Veterans Association. A sports enthusiast, he especially enjoyed watching the NY Yankees and NE Patriots while eating his favorite ice cream. But most of all Joe loved his wife and family and lived his life doing whatever he could to help them and others. After growing up during the Great Depression, Joe constantly reminded his family that all blessings come from God and to always be appreciative and grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Hope-Health Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 N. Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
