Gail A. Hamel

Gail A. (Guenette) Hamel of Warren, age 68, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, June 27, 2024 comforted by her family. She was the beloved wife of Steven M. Hamel with whom she shared 35 years of marriage.

Born in Pawtucket and raised in Rehoboth, the daughter of the late Leo X. and Irene M. (Brodeur) Guenette, she was a longtime resident of Warren.

A graduate of the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School, Class of 1974, she earned her degree in nursing from Newport Hospital Nursing School. A skilled Registered Nurse since 1977, she worked at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Blackstone Valley Surgicare and the former ENT Center of Rhode Island.

Mrs. Hamel enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and a challenging jigsaw puzzle. She delighted in watching her children’s sporting events and her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her husband, children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Benjamin Hamel and his partner Harold Fiebelman of MO and Adam Hamel and his wife Jessica of Warren; one stepdaughter, Nicole Tetreault and her husband Jason of NC; one sister, Diane Rummery; one brother, Rene Guenette; three grandchildren, Emilia and Lucas Hamel and Cole Tetreault; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Alan Guenette.

Her visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 8:30 to 9:30AM in the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Mary of the Bay Parish, 645 Main Street, Warren.
