He was the husband of Janice (Motta) Cappelli.
Born in Providence, son of the late Joseph Cappelli Sr. and Raffaela (Coppola)
Cappelli, Cal worked with his father in their popular local Italian restaurant,
"Cappelli's" for many years. He later worked as a hearing aid specialist and in
real estate sales, where he gained an affinity for Florida and warm climates.
Residing in West Palm Beach Florida for the last 28 years, Cal, along with his
wife, Janice, remained active in both business and leisure, working for many
years as pre-need counselors for South Florida funeral homes and winning
numerous awards for account sales over multiple years. Due to his respected
position in the funeral and pre-need profession, Cal worked training counselors
as well as writing and speaking on the subject. He also served as the director
of pre-need sales and marketing at the Tillman Funeral Home.
Cal was an entrepreneur. In his spare time, he enjoyed starting and building
business' before selling them and starting over again. Sentry Mortgage Brokers
and Funeral Options are just two of the businesses he envisioned and built. As a
dedicated father, he helped several of his children start and build their own
businesses.
He retired in 2004, but still worked part time for SCI as a funeral driver and
attendant.
Cal enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad. He particularly enjoyed touring the
Southwest in his RV while visiting National Parks and hiking their canyons,
including the Grand Canyon in Arizona and Bryce and Zion Canyons in Utah. He
also toured Italy.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed fine Italian food and working out at the gym.
Along with his wife, Cal is survived by his children, Sharron D. Casey and her
husband Bob of Johnston, RI, Joseph P Cappelli of North Providence, RI, Anna M.
Montgomery and her husband Ted of East Lyme, CT and Christine A. Laos and her
husband Rafael of Green Acres, FL.
He is also survived by his stepsons, Paul Carreiro and his wife Cindy of
Swansea, MA and Matthew Carreiro and his wife Tina of Loxahatchee, FL and his
siblings, Mary G. Kane of Johnston, RI, Joseph Cappelli Jr. of Warwick, RI, and
Judy Mooradian of Cranston, RI.
Cal is Grandfather to fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, December
16, 2010 at Wilbur Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren, Rhode Island.
