Carlton A. “Buddy” Mott, native Bristolian, 90, passed away Nov. 28, 2014. He was the beloved husband of B. Madonna (Emin) Mott for 61 years.
Born in Bristol, RI, he was a son of the late Samuel A. and Emily Rose (Gouin) Mott and the brother of the late Raymond Mott, Gladys Ross and Muriel Sanders.
He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn Mott Tolleson and her husband Alan of Bristol and Carolyn Mott Jaques and her husband Jeffrey of Wickford and loving grandsons, Zachary St. Ours and Leander Jaques.
Mr. Mott served during WWII attached to Patton’s 3rd Army with the 807th Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was a self taught artist, engraver, sign painter/boat letterer, carver and amazing handyman. He was the proud owner of Buddy’s Tattoo Shop in Newport for over 50 years, working with his daughters for the last 30 of those years. Awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Tattoo Association in 1994, Buddy was an inspiration to many tattoo artists and an innovator. He also enjoyed boating, skiing, traveling, playing pool with friends and shooting his cannon on the 4th of July.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6th at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol, burial with Military Honors will be in North Burial Ground, Colt’s Park, Bristol. Visitation Friday 3-6 PM at Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main St., Warren.
