Anna Russo

Anna (Pongratz) Russo, age 96, of Barrington passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Ralph M. Russo, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of the late Ludwig and Resi (Hutter) Pongratz, Anna had lived in Barrington for the past 74 years.

Anna was a member of the American Legion Post #8 Women’s Auxiliary for many years, where she held many positions. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Church in Barrington and was member of the church’s Sacred Heart Society. She was also a member of the Barrington Senior Center, Senior’s on the Block and the Red Hatters. Anna enjoyed walking, traveling, playing cards and bingo.

Survivors include: three children, Theresa Dardeen of Coventry, Ralph Russo of Barrington and Mary Jane Miguel and companion LeRoy Smith of East Providence; two grandchildren, Deborah Dardeen and her companion Michael Glover of Coventry and Nicole Deffley of East Providence; three great- grandchildren, Kayleigh Ann, Brendan and Brody Deffley; two siblings, James Pongratz and Teresa May and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John Pongratz.

Her Funeral will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 at 8:00 AM from the Wilbur-Romano Funeral Home, 615 Main Street, Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Avenue, Barrington. Burial will follow in Maria del Campo Cemetery, Barrington. Visiting hours, Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.
