Reverend Dr. Timothy Parrish, "Preacher," age 73, and Pastor of First Baptist Church of Warren for over 51 years, died Monday, July 15, 2019 at his home in Warren, Michigan. Timothy was born May 22, 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas, son of the late Timothy Lanier Parrish, Sr. and the late Norma Rose (nee: Russell) Parrish.
Timothy, or "Preacher" as he was fondly referred to by many of his dear friends, was raised in Michigan and later graduated high school from Lincoln Park High. He would follow his calling from the Lord to pastor and preach the Gospel. He attended Bible College in Texas and continued his studies at Midwestern Bible College in Orion, Michigan, and lastly received his Doctorate of Divinity from Ecorse Baptist College in Michigan.
On July 7, 2019, Preacher celebrated 51 years of pastoring and preaching the Gospel within his home church at First Baptist of Warren, Michigan. Faith and Family were the two pillars that Preacher ascribed to throughout his entire life. His church members were a continuation of his family and the old church building truly was his first home. He loved the Gospel and cherished, even more, sharing the "Good News" of Salvation.
Away from the church, which was seldom, Preacher and his wife enjoyed traveling and taking shipboard cruises. He and his wife visited many beautiful locations, including Israel, which they both fondly remembered. He was a man who cherished his family and especially loved his grandchildren. He was a Papa to so many, and a dear friend and mentor to countless others.
Preacher never complained about anything during his life, even in his last days when he endured much pain. We have lost a great man, a Pastor, and a devoted servant of Christ... however, we take great comfort in knowing he is residing with his Heavenly Father and other family members in Heaven.
Preacher was the beloved husband of Pam Parrish, the dear father to many, and Papa to many more.
Visitation for Preacher will be held Thursday, July 18th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 mile) in Warren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday beginning with Preacher lying in state from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Warren, 31707 Seventh Street in Warren. Officiating the Funeral will be Reverend Jason Hamilton.
