Theresa Lynn Allison, age 69 of Roseville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on March 4, 2020 at Medilodge of Shoreline in Sterling Heights, Michigan. She was born on January 13, 1951 in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, daughter of the late Joseph and the late Susan (nee: Hodge) Abdo.
A “St. Clair Shores Girl” through & through, Theresa’s heart never wandered far from the city of her upbringing. But then, why would it when you’ve got such a fantastic staple in town like “Bommarito’s Bakery” when you just gotta have one of those delectable little pink anise cookies,…or better yet, a cup of their mouthwatering Lemon Ice!? Mmm good! For that and so much more, “The Shores” was home…the place where she grew in stature, raised a family, and enjoyed a good life making a storehouse of wonderful memories in the process.
Known more affectionately to all as Terri, her heart was tugged by another endearing force,…her immense love for animals. To be true, most of us are animal lovers, but few are instilled with the same passion and intensity as was witnessed in Terri’s genuine care for her four-legged friends. Dr. Doolittle had nothin’ on this gal. This passion that permeated her being was so much more than a feeling inside, it actually stirred her to direct these impulses toward serving others. From Terri’s desires was born her self-made business as a Pet Care Provider, a service that offered a variety of helps and assistance for people and their furry friends. Just imagine the joys she must have known in a job that called for her to simply share the love of animals throughout the day? God gave Terri a special gift and she never lost sight of its blessing.
When she managed to find a little “me time” in the day, Terri loved to hit the shopping circuit,…which often meant a visit to either the Home Goods Store or the Christmas Tree Shoppe,…and on a bonus day, both! Shopping seems to quicken that happy place at times, and Terri knew the feeling well. Her other passion was enjoying a meal out on the town. She loved eating out and leaving all the work to someone else. Nothing says a “great meal” like having it brought to you, and no dishes to clean. Though Terri’s palate was pleased by most anywhere she ate, there were some “faves” that stood out depending on the entrée-du-jour. If she was hankerin’ for some ribs, then the obvious choice was Famous Dave’s. For pork chops, the car always seemed to gravitate towards the Athenian Restaurant. And if it was a bowl of French Onion Soup she was craving, there was no place better than Applebee’s to Git-R-Done! And everyone was well aware,…there would be NO pizza for Terri.
Terri also loved playing cards. When it comes to the family and friendship moments in life, it’s hard to beat the fun & entertainment that often accompanies sitting around the card table slingin’ some cards and sharing a little friendly competition. Add in an adult beverage or two,…now you have the makings of all kinds of hilarity and humor. Terri knew it well, and she was especially fond of the game of poker. Perhaps somewhat important to interject here is…she always won!
Yet in the game of life, Terri’s biggest win came in the form of her three beautiful children, Michael, Tara & Meghan. They were the light of her life and gave life its greatest meaning. No matter the time of day or the circumstances at hand, Terri was always there for her children. She was their rock, a solid force to depend on through it all. And if those three weren’t enough of a blessing, here came her four grandchildren to put the cherry on the sundae. Family was everything to Terri, and she was everything to them,…and together they were blessed to share some of life’s most precious moments.
Though she leaves us far too soon, it certainly is not without imparting the best of herself to all with whom she was gifted to share this experience called “life.” So many lives were touched by the many facets of her being, and she shined as bright as the sun into the hearts of those she held most dear. May those she leaves embrace the goodness of what they shared together in love.
She’s got some dogs awaiting her in Heaven,…may their playground be plentiful!
Terri was the beloved wife of the late Ronald. Dearest mother of Michael (Amanda) Allison, Tara Allison, and Meghan (Josh) Allison-Snell. Loving grandmother of Evan, Aubrey, Adalyn, and Layton. Cherished sister of Ken (Judi) Abdo, and preceded in death by siblings; Joe, Al, John, Don, and Charlene.
Visitation for Terri will be held Monday, March 9th from 3-9 pm, with an evening Rosary Service (time pending), at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. Her Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday morning, 10:00 am at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Fr. Mike Gawlowski.
