Steven Craig Garrett, age 37, died Friday, June 21, 2019 in Warren, Michigan due to complications from a diabetic coma. Steven was an organ donor and had hopes to help a family friend receive a new kidney. Though Steven was unable to donate his own organs, he was able to bump the family friend up on the donor list and they have since received a donated kidney prior to his passing. He is a true hero trying to save lives. Giving to others was just one of Steven's character traits.
Steven was born March 12, 1982 in Warren, Michigan, son of Margaret (nee: Sunman), and the late Robbie Lee Garrett. He was raised in the Warren and Sterling Heights areas where, as a young man, he enjoyed, drawing, skateboarding, roller blading, and hanging out with his friends.
Steven worked his entire life in restaurants preparing meals for the masses,...his mother said her son was the best cook she had ever seen. He worked at various restaurants over the years to include the Texas Roadhouse, and lastly at Country Boy Restaurant.
Away from work, Steven's life revolved around his daughter. He had a heart of gold and loved his daughter and family immeasurably. Though Steven leaves us at far too young an age, we can take heart in knowing that he will never be forgotten. He now rests peacefully and safely in the loving arms of God.
Steven was the cherished father of Kiarra, and the loving son of Margaret (Richard) White, and the late Robbie Lee Garrett. He was the dear brother of Robin (Mike) Stedwell and Justin Garrett. Steven is survived by his grandparents, Wayne & Gloria Sunman, and was the cherished uncle of Sierra Garrett, Mikayla Stedwell, and Austin Stedwell. Steven was the godson of Lynn & Ralph Witlla, and is further survived by many loving relatives and friends.
Visitation for Steven will be held Friday, June 28th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 mile) in Warren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, 11:30 am at the Funeral Home.
