Salvatore honorably served in the United States Army as a medic during World War II after being drafted in his teens. When he returned, he married the love of his life, Sarah, and spent 71 loving years together raising a family until her passing in 2021. Salvatore worked as a press operator for many years, working on a variety of different printing projects. In his leisure time, he enjoyed working on projects around the home and yard. Most of all, Salvatore loved spending time with his family and friends. He will forever be missed.
Salvatore was the beloved husband of the late Sarah. Loving father of James Abate, Dorothy (Michael) Samyn, Marie Abate, and Michael (Karen) Abate. Cherished grandfather of Kyle (Danielle), Michael (Nina), Sarah, Matthew, Allison, Jacob, and Justin. He was predeceased by his brothers Frank, Bill, Vincent, and Joseph.
Salvatore will lie In State on Saturday, March 18th from 9:30am until the time of his Funeral Mass at 10:00am at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 22851 Lexington Ave, Eastpointe, MI. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp.
