Robert Paul Cornacchio

Robert Paul Cornacchio, age 73 of Warren, died Friday, March 23, 2018 at the St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren surrounded by his loved ones. He was born July 27, 1944 in Detroit, son of the late Peter Paul and the late Antoinette (nee: Falone) Cornacchio.Robert was barely out of high school, a mere 18 years old, when his heart and mind led him to a very adult decision,…to serve our country as an airman in the United States Air Force during the early years of the Vietnam War. Extending the next four years in service to our great armed forces, Robert's tour of duty spanned from 1962 thru 1966 until ultimately receiving his honorable discharge following a distinguished and decorated military stint.Following his return home, now 22 years of age, Robert eventually found his niche within the automotive industry where he worked as a Machinist. Exacting his own brand of expertise through his dedicated service and hard work ethics, Robert was an integral cog in the Motor Capital's wheel of automation and exuded the utmost in excellence to everything he touched. The daily demands on his knowledge and proficiency made for a busy and productive career, one that compelled Robert to seek a balance through some fun and refreshing escapes. And for anyone who truly knew this unique and interesting man, then it will come as no surprise that Robert's greatest escape was found right at home, out in the garage. That's right,…"Bob's Garage" was truly his ManCave,…his Haven of Rest,…and an Oasis of Peace amidst a stressed out world. His favorite taste in music was derived from the iconic sounds of Motown, the same of which you'd often hear emanating from his "home-close-to-home." But more than the music, Robert loved escaping to his Sanctuary of Sports to listen to the game of the day,…be it Tigers baseball or Lions and/or Michigan Wolverines football. Whatever the season, Robert had a reason to enjoy his little Sportsapalooza in the garage,…along with some other treats, too! And on those exceptionally memorable days, you'd find Robert sharing his Pad of Pleasure with three special ladies; Jasmine, Lilly and Maggie, his precious puppies. He loved his dogs without measure, and they certainly loved him by affording Robert countless hours of attention in the times they shared together in the garage. With roots planted firmly in his family's ethnicity, Robert was quite proud of his Italian heritage and the essence of "family" that permeated his heart and soul. It's as if God meant for the two to go together,…Italian and Family,…and nobody felt it more than he. Family meant the world to Robert, and making those lasting memories together is what life was all about. Yet at the age of 40, his family make-up was destined for an entirely different path when he shared his vows of marriage with a pretty, Polish bride, Miss Deborah Margaret Kurkowski. It was on September 22, 1984 that these two lovebirds became husband & wife, and would go on to share a loving and wonderful 33 years,…building upon the comforts of home, raising a family, and growing deeper in love together with each passing day.As one who enjoyed the gifts of family, there was actually another "family" in Robert's life that afforded he and his brother's the opportunity of touching many lives as members in the Catholic church's, Knights of Columbus. As part of the St. Mary Magdalene Council 12295, Robert and his fellow Knights were an integral aspect in the care and ministry they conveyed upon their community, and were blessed to be a part of helping to change lives for the better. Through the fraternal brotherhood they shared, God used these gentleman in charitable and powerful ways to make a difference,...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and Robert's compassion afforded him the "right stuff" to partake of the blessings they witnessed. Robert was a Godly man with a servant's heart,...and one heck of a Knight, too! A loving husband, father and grandfather, Robert impacted countless hearts and souls with his loving nature and spirit of caring,…yet none-so-much as his cherished family. Spending time in their company was a joy beyond expression, and Robert lived for each & every visit they afforded him,…especially those precious moments spent with his grandchildren; Mason, Scarlett and Oliver. Though it's hard to say goodbye, oft times, there's a comfort to be taken in knowing that our loved ones are absent from our presence, yet safe in the arms of God. We may often wonder and contemplate from time to time just what Heaven holds for us,…but for Robert, you can bet that God is going to make sure that his coffee cup will perpetually be full,…and with a Golden Spoon resting gently against the rim. Drink up, Robert,…and rest in peace, dear brother. Robert was the beloved husband of Deborah, and dearest father of Stacey Smith, Brian (Amanda) Cornacchio, and Nichole (Jeremy) Brown. Loving grandfather of Mason, Scarlett, and Oliver. Brother of Betty Anne Cornacchio, and the late Donald Anthony. Visitation for Robert will be held Tuesday, March 27th from 3-9 pm, with a 7:30 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. Robert will lie in state on Wednesday, March 28th from 9:30 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Louise Catholic Church, 2500 Twelve Mile Road in Warren.
