Robbi Lynne Zawojskyj, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and creativity that touched everyone who knew her.
She was born in Highland Park on December 31, 1960, to Bob Shannon and Jane (nee Milske) Shannon. Robbi was known to many as the "strongest woman they had ever met," a testament to her resilience throughout her life. She faced several health complications over the years, but never showed weakness. She truly was strong in every aspect of her life.
As a dedicated stay-at-home mom, Robbi found immense joy in raising her children, Theressa, John, and Elizabeth, in Ferndale, Michigan with John Zawojskyj. She cherished every moment spent with them while watching them. Her continuing love for her children was later poured into her love for her grandchildren. She particularly adored video calls with her grandkids, finding delight in their laughter and milestones. Robbi was an incredible mother and beyond proud to be a grandmother.
In her free time, Robbi was a passionate crafter. She found peace and fulfillment in her creative pursuit, especially knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, and jewelry making. Anything with a hot glue gun was fair game when it came to crafting with Robbi. She created various pieces of artwork, and even shared this hobby with her loved ones, making it a pastime that will continue to bring joy in the years to come.
When she wasn't crafting, Robbi enjoyed being a part of Volunteers Assisting the Disabled (VAD) Camp in association with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This was something that not only brought Robbi joy but that she was so incredibly passionate about. Being part of a community in which she could help others who were experiencing the same challenges in life as she was, helped her feel less alone, and more importantly accomplished. Giving back to VAD Camp kept the fighting fire inside Robbi alive.
She also loved music. Her love for music was a constant source of joy throughout her life. Robbi had a deep appreciation for artists ranging from Tom Petty and Led Zeppelin to Aerosmith, the Doobie Brothers, the Rolling Stones, and other Motown legends. Music was not just a soundtrack, but a reflection of her vibrant spirit and eclectic taste.
When not listening to music, Robbi enjoyed indulging in her favorite shows on HGTV and following the drama of General Hospital, activities that brought her relaxation and entertainment.
Robbi Lynne Zawojskyj will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she showered upon her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
She is survived by her loving children, Theressa Zawojskyj John (Holly) Zawojskyj, and Elizabeth (James) Singleton; her dear grandchildren Aubrey, Sofia, Camron, Dylan, James, Taylor, and Jameson; her mother Beluah “Jane” Shannon; her co-parent John Zawojskyj; several nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends. Preceded in death by her father, Robert "Bob" Shannon; and her siblings Richard Shannon, and Bobby Shannon.
