Richard was born on November 7, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to his loving parents Richard and Verna.
At 17 he graduated from Osborn High School in Detroit. It was after graduation that he joined the United States Army where he served proudly and honorably during the Vietnam Era. He went on to graduate from Henry Ford Community College with a 4.0 GPA. Richard was very smart and it was evidenced when we would watch Jeopardy. His intelligence and problem solving skills combined with his dedication to hard work always made him able to tackle many various projects and he really enjoyed working on cars. His love of cars and mechanics led him to become a Hi-Lo mechanic where he was employed with Chrysler for 32 years.
Richard loved being outdoors in the fresh air, whether it was testing his skills at hunting and fishing or the peace and sunshine of being out tending the garden. But above everything, family took priority for Richard and nothing brought him more joy than time with them. From quiet nights with his wife, helping guide his kids with his fatherly advice or the joy of watching his grandchildren grow, Richard loved his family.
Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years Patricia, children Jason Gaetzke, Kelly (Don) Rossi and Justin Gaetzke, grandchildren Blake Rossi, Chase Rossi, Tyler Rossi and Roman Gaetzke.
He was preceded in passing by his parents Richard and Verna Gaetzke.
