Patricia Ann Colombo

Patricia Ann Colombo, age 70 of Warren, died Monday, January 9, 2017 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September 26, 1946 in Detroit, loving daughter of the late Ferdinand J. and the late Helen M. (nee: Smietana) Roman. As we trod this earthly coil, some of us are fortunate enough to share some special milestones in life,...as did Patricia, this past May 7, 2016, when she and Leonard shared their 50th Wedding Anniversary together. A courtship which led them to love eventually led them to the altar at Detroit's iconic Assumption Grotto Catholic Church where they were joined in holy matrimony and began their lives together as husband and wife. Since that magical day on May 7, 1966, the two lovebirds have been building upon the comforts of home & hearth, enjoying the blessings of 2 beautiful daughters, and growing deeper in love with each passing day. Along with tending to the needs of family and her home, Patricia was also quite proud of her efforts exuded within the workforce. Working outside of the house brought her great rewards, both as a woman and as a professional as well. It all began with her position at the Eaton Aluminum Company. After a while, Patricia decided she wanted to challenge herself a bit more, so she enrolled in a course that taught medical terminology. From there, her newfound knowledge and skill set opened the door toward an eventual career with the Beaumont Health System where she worked as an office coordinator in the radiology department. With a shining history of over 12 years at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Patricia's hard work and dedicated service would ultimately lead her to a position within the office of the hospital's Chief of Radiology. She ran a tight ship,...and" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">...and always managed to keep it sailing smooth.Patricia's pastime enjoyments were quite eclectic and always gave her something to look forward to when work wasn't calling. One of these involved her artistic talents and the dabbling she did in the painting of ceramics. She took simple, fired ceramic pieces and added life to them with the splash of color she infused through her creative eye. Not one piece was the same, and each was a unique expression of the beauty that lie within the artist. And while in the realm of the arts, Patricia was also known for her love of dancing. Call it a taste of the Ginger Rodgers that emanated through her soul, what began in her childhood as a polished tap dancer would ultimately be translated to the simple joy of being in the arms of Len as they tripped the light fantastic,...with style.The retirement years brought another shared pleasure for she and Len,...the love of camping, Motor-Home Style. There had been a day when they enjoyed hangin' out at the cabin up north in Clare, but the work involved in keeping it up simply got outweighed by the convenience of driving into a park, plugging everything in, and just kicking back in the comforts and company of the camping experience. Being in the outdoors amidst a host of other campers is like a world unto its own,...and Patricia ate it up!Patricia will also be remembered for her caring spirit, her servant's heart, and a compassion that went before her,...all due to her deep and abiding faith. A longtime member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Warren, Patricia was always there when someone needed a helping hand and was devout in her beliefs. This charitable heart she possessed also put her to work as a volunteer with the St. Blase Nursing Group where she helped at their various health clinics administering blood pressure tests. Yet of all that impacted her most, nothing could compare to the immeasurable love she held for those precious cherubs of hers, the grandchildren. They were the light of her life, brought her joy beyond expression, and were the source of some of the most special and warm memories sh held. Just one of their simple smiles could set her heart aglow like the sun in the sky. Her family meant the world to her and she was certainly the rock that held it all together. She leaves behind a storehouse of wonderful memories for all to cherish with each reflection shared. Patricia touched a multitude of lives along the way and will be missed immensely.Patricia was the beloved wife of Leonard. Dear mother of Doreen (Jim) Bryan and Donna Liccardello. Loving grandmother of Jesse, Shelby, Christopher, Nikki, Antonio, Sam. Great grandmother of Liliana, and Gracie. Sister of the late Bob Bednarz. Visitation for Patricia will be held Wednesday, January 11th from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. Her Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
