Patricia Coffman, age 97 of Warren, died Saturday, June 30, 2018 at American House – Freedom Place in Roseville, Michigan. She was born March 13, 1921 in Lurgan, Northern Ireland, daughter of the late Harry and the late Rose (nee: McVeigh) Lavery.A wee lass from the village of Lurgan, a town nestled not far off the coast of Lake Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland, Patricia would eventually make her way to America,…yet never relinquishing her deep Irish roots, an heritage she clung to with pride and honor throughout her entire life. It was a strong and vibrant heritage that helped to define this amazing lady and paint the picture of her wonderful character. Patricia was a consummate homemaker, Mom and friend, always putting others before herself and emanating a care that went above and beyond. She had the heart of a saint, the wisdom of a sage, and a desire to bring happiness into the lives of all with whom she engaged. Patricia influenced countless lives along the way and set a wonderful example of how this human experiment should work. It's been said, "when you're eating, you're happy,"…and Patricia managed to bring incredible moments of happiness into a lot of tummies over the years through her cooking and baking skills. All she needed was a kitchen, a stove, an oven and some prep space, and soon there would be another amazing display of edible delights and a feast for the enjoying. Many will fondly reflect on her unique and tasty Potato Salad,…or perhaps her mouthwatering Spaghetti & Meatballs,…but best of all just has to be her Texas Sheetcake, known more affectionately as the "Spice of Life." (Got Milk?) If you left Patricia's table hungry, you simply weren't tryin'. And since she had Irish blood flowing through her veins, that just naturally made everything she prepared,…wait for it,…"Magically Delicious."When she managed to find a little "me time" in the day, Patricia enjoyed feeding her mind and keeping sharp. Whether it was curling up with a good book or the mental challenge of solving a crossword puzzle, those brief moments of solitude were nothing less than refreshing for her. Yet on the more active side, Patricia was also instilled with a some sporting pleasures which included her love of golf and bowling. From a sunny day on the links in search of that elusive "Hole-in-One,"…to the fun & frivolity of sharing the lanes with loved ones and friends in the hopes of rolling a 300 game, Patricia loved getting out of the house and making memories to last a lifetime. She was also quite the baseball fan and could never get enough of her favorite Boys of Summer, the Detroit Tigers. They had no better banner waver than Patricia, and she sure enjoyed watching her home team vie for the win.Yet of all that provided her the most joy in life, Patricia's heart and soul were forever blessed and uplifted with each moment spent in the company of her cherubs, her precious grandchildren & great-grandchildren. They were truly the light of her eyes and infused her with a love only a Grandma can know. Family meant the world to Patricia, and creating the moments and memories that held them close is what life was all about for her. It was her legacy,…one in which she poured her heart and soul. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Patricia was the beloved wife of the late Archie. Dear mother of Cindy (Ed) Cohen, John (Cathy) Coffman, Mary (Mike) Flynn, Archie (Herta) Coffman, David Coffman, and Patti (Jim) Mencotti.
