Melvin J. Pini Lewandowski, age 83, of Macomb, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at his home in Macomb. He was born October 22, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Constantine and the late Mary Lewandowski. Melvin (aka; Pini to his friends) was a WWII Veteran of the US Army, and an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He was also a golfer who had a true love for the game, and was a professional caddy back in the late 1930s and early 1940s at Plumb Hollow CC & Detroit CC. Having carried the bag for many of the top name professional golfers and celebrities on that era, he always had a story to tell that was funny and brought a smile to everyone who was fortunate enough to hear them, no matter how many times. But more importantly was his love for his family. He is predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of 60 + years (Lottie). Together, they defined not only what true love is, but what being in love really means. He was also the poster child for what a father, grandfather and friend is and what being that was all about. He will be sadly missed, but to quote a dear friend; "To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is never to die!" Pini (Dad) now lives on in our hearts and will be there forever. Pini is the beloved husband of the late Lottie. Loving father of Gary (Lori), Barbara Hughes, and David (Paulie). Dear grandfather of Eric, Stephannie, Lisa, Kristy, Carly, Alex, and Megan. Memorial visitation for Mr. Lewandowski will be Saturday, (January 16, 2010) at Noon until 4 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 Mile Road). A Remembrance Service will be held at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VA (Veterans Hospital) in Detroit. Please share your memories of Mr. Lewandowski at his guest book.
