Mary "Marsh" Omela

Mary "Marsh" Omela (nee: Skowron), age 90, died August 31, 2014 at the American House of Sterling Heights, Michigan. Mary was born August 3, 1924, daughter of the late Anthony and Thecla Skowron.Mary resided in Hamtramck for many years and retired as Hamtramck's first police woman. She was devoted to her family, her Polish heritage and her catholic faith.Mary was the beloved wife of the late Edward Omela, and is the dear mother of Deborah and Denise Marsh. She was the cherished sister of the late Julia Smistek and Leo Skowron. Visitation for Mrs. Omela will be held on Thursday, September 4th from 2-9 pm, with a 6:00pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile) in Warren.Mary will lie in-state on Friday from 9:30 am until time of the Funeral Liturgy at 10:00 am at St. Florian Catholic Church, 2626 Poland Avenue, Hamtramck MI 48212. Entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery will follow the Funeral Mass. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Capuchin Fathers, 1820 Mt.
