On October 29, 2024, we lost our loving mother and the world lost a sweet, giving person. Mary Ann spent her life caring for others. Whether it was her husband Bob, her daughters Caroline and Ann Marie, or her mother-in-law Mary Ellen, she always put the needs of those around her first.
Born in Hamtramck, Mary Ann spent most of her life in the Detroit area. She was a devout Catholic who attended Catholic schools from grade school through high school (Dominican) and then the dental school at the University of Detroit. It was her dream to go into healthcare. She served her patients for years as a dental hygienist in Southfield. Her other dream was to be a mother, which she waited patiently for until Ann Marie arrived and then Caroline less than two years later. In Mary Ann’s later years, Caroline cared for her in Chicago.
Mary Ann was a lifelong advocate of education who worked to put Bob through law school and made many sacrifices to pay for her daughters’ schooling. For years she was involved with the Warren Woods school district to promote additional educational opportunities for local children.
She loved traveling to Southampton, Ontario every summer, a tradition she started when she married Bob and then continued with the family, always staying at The Maples in Cottage #3. Mary Ann was a fixture on the beach there, whether floating on Lake Huron or acting as mom for all the kids running around.
Mary Ann is predeceased by her mother Clara, her father Michael, her brother Jim and her husband Robert. She is survived by her daughters Caroline and Ann Marie and her son-in-law William.
Mary Ann’s Life Celebration will take place at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road in Warren on Monday, December 2nd from 4-7 p.m. We’d love to have you join and share your memories of her. Her funeral mass will take place December 3 at St. Mary Our Lady Queen of Families in Center Line at 9 a.m.
