Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Callahan

Mary Elizabeth Callahan, "Betty" age 88 died Monday February 5, 2018 at St. John Macomb Hospital Center in Warren, Michigan. Betty was born July 28, 1929 in Detroit Michigan the daughter of the late William J. Brady and the late Mary (nee: Gustitus) Brady.Betty was raised in Detroit and graduated from Southeastern High School. Following high school she worked at Hudson Motor Car and later within the Stroh Brewery executive offices working for one of the Stroh sons as their administrative assistant.Betty eventually married the love of her life Joseph J. Callahan. The couple settled in the burgeoning suburb of Warren, Michigan. Once her daughter Kathleen, "Katie", was born Betty never returned to the workforce, however relished in being a wonderful "stay at home" mom. During her daughter's younger years, she was very active with Katie's upbringing and also worked within the school library.When Betty was home she tended to her house and also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, watching TV British drama series, or just sat quietly reading, as Betty was an avid reader of books. Later when her granddaughter Heather came along, she cherished her grandchild and would brag to anyone about Heather's accomplishments.Betty was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Callahan, and was the loving mother of Kathleen Callahan (Keith Nelson), and cherished grandmother of Heather Nelson. She was predecease by all her siblings; the late Allan (Rosemary) Brady, Florence (Beryl) Saar, Mildred (Charles) Maloney, and Michael Brady.
