Mary Alice Brown, age 91 of Warren, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 16, 2020. She was born June 24, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio, daughter of the late Philip and the late Louise (nee: Belanger) Thibert.
Employed as a high school secretary for many years, Mary took great pride in her work and loved the youthful environment of which she was a part. They brought an energy and vitality to each day that made her job extremely rewarding. Mary was great at managing many of the details that helped make the school’s operation run smoothly, and was quite an asset to the administrative staff.
When not at work and her chores all at bay, Mary enjoyed finding a quiet place to exercise her artistic flair that often came in the form of Knitting, Cross-Stitching, and various other forms of handmade crafts as well. She loved keeping her hands busy, and found great pleasure in the many finished products that blossomed from her imagination. There were many family members and friends with whom Mary loved gifting her wares over the years, a little touch from a very giving heart.
For most of us we have a special spot that we consider our own personal sanctuary, and for Mary that place was Harbor Springs, Michigan. Nestled on the north shore of Little Traverse Bay, across from the ever-popular Petoskey, and almost to the tip of the Mitten, the tiny hamlet offered Mary a wonderfully scenic escape from the concrete jungle and sense of peace and tranquility that brought balance to life. Michigan is truly a beautiful state, and Mary managed to find one of its gems to enjoy.
Mary was devout in her Catholic faith and found great inspiration for the Holy Mother through the iconic image of Our Lady of Notre Dame atop the famed university’s peak. Mary’s faith ran deep and was a guiding force throughout her life that touched countless hearts and souls with the goodness and kindness that embodied her giving spirit. Because of her Father in Heaven, she was able to love with a full heart,…and this was never more evidenced than through her care and compassion for her grandchildren. She absolutely adored them and treasured each and every moment she was blessed to share their company. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mary leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love to be embraced with each reflection shared. She lived simply, loved intently, and laughed often, three of the greatest traits of which anyone could be imbued. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Felix who preceded her on March 4, 2004. Dearest mother of Cynthia Ann Brown and David Brown. Loving grandmother of David Brown Jr., Geoffrey (Caitlin) Brown, Kellie (Freddie) Austin, and Timothy Brown. Sister of Evelyn Menard, the late Remy, the late Agnes, and the late Beatrice. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home in Warren, Michigan.
