Margaret A. Ruff, age 86 of Warren, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Shelby Nursing Center in Shelby Township, Michigan. She was born on November 8, 1926 in Detroit, daughter of the late William and the late Alice (nee: Binnie) Langlands. In telling the story of Margaret, considerable mention would have to be given to what an amazing seamstress she was. Of all the expertise she wielded with the needle, 2 of her favorites were the incredible work she did with draperies and her love of quilting. She definitely had a way with sewing, and was truly an artist with fabric. Another example of her artistry and talents was found in her magnificent garden where her heavy doses of TLC and nurturing of the soil produced some of the most stunning roses and peonies the eye has ever seen. Margaret took much pride in her flower garden, and it was so much more than merely a skill. It was truly a gift from God. As for another passion in life, none would argue that her love of animals was high on the priority list. Yes, she was the proud owner and Mama of her own pets throughout the years,...but it was her granddogs and great-granddogs that took center stage. From the children came "Beastie" and "Pork Chop"...a Border Terrier and Mutt, respectively. And from her grandchildren came "Barclay" and "Sweetums." All four are rescued dogs, a testament to Margaret's guidance and care for her four-legged, furry friends,...and a wonderful legacy passed down. Then there was the fun and entertaining side of Margaret, the side whose appetite was fed by traveling to the casinos. Together in the company of her fellow Roseville Seniors, there was a bounty of joys and pleasures shared as they traveled all over Michigan experiencing the sights and sounds of gambling heavens, and giving Ol' Lady Luck a run for her money on those infamous one-armed-bandits. And when it came time to enjoy watching others tempt Lady Luck, one of the most special hours in Margaret's day was spent with Bob Barker & his Barker's Beauties watching "The Price Is Right." Everyone knew to NEVER interrupt Margaret during that precious, golden hour of the day. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Margaret lived a long and happy life with many blessings in its wake. She touched a multitude of hearts and lives along the way, and leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be a guidepost and memory-enhancer with each reflection enjoyed. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Margaret was the beloved wife of the late Charles. Dear mother of Charles Ruff, Beth (Donald) Schmalenberg, and Neil (Eva) Ruff. Loving grandmother of Sandra (Daryl) McCue, Paul Schmalenberg, Matthew Ruff, Samantha Ruff, and great-grandmother of Duncan and Anna McCue. Sister of Ian (June) Langlands, and the late Nelson Langlands. Also survived by Sisters-in-law, Barbara Ruff, Carolyn Gentz, and Janet Langlands. Visitation for Margaret will be held on Friday, November 8th from 3-9pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. Her Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:30am on Saturday at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Walter A. Keller. Interment will follow at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. Memorial donations are welcomed to the National Kidney Foundation, 1900 E. Jefferson Avenue, Detroit, MI 48207 or to www.kidney.org.
