Louise M. Austin, age 98 of Warren, and longtime resident of Belleville, Michigan, died Sunday, June 28, 2015. She was born June 2, 1917 in Algona, Iowa, daughter of the late Clyde and the late Florence (nee: Reynolds) Shipler.Along with Iowa being her birthplace, it was also where the family farm was located and where she was raised on a spread of 750 acres. With five strapping brothers to share the load, the farm helped her to gain some strong work ethics and values,...lessons she took with her through the remainder of her life. Eventually relocating to the Detroit area, these work ethics were put to use when she took a position as receptionist for the Benz Glass Company, a job she held for over 10 years. When work wasn't calling and all the chores were done, Louise would often be found exercising her creative skills through her love of cross-stitching. She was quite adept with the intricate details of weaving threads into the beautiful works of art she produced. Louise was also known for her love of gaming. In her earlier years, the game of scrabble provided the competitive entertainment she so enjoyed. Her later years were filled with the joy of playing the card game, Skipo. Whatever the game, Louise was simply overjoyed at any and all opportunities she was afforded of joining with her loved ones around the table making memories together. Then there was her love of dancing,...particularly the square dancing venue. She could "do-si-do" with the best of 'em!Like many ladies in their golden years, the smooth & silky sounds of Ireland's finest, Danny O'Donnell, brought her countless hours of listening pleasure. Whether on the radio or television, Louise was always enthralled by her favorite crooner. For her 90th birthday, she was overwhelmed with joy when a very special greeting card arrived in her honor...signed by Danny O'Donnell. What a wonderful expression toward an adoring fan! Also, Sunday mornings were extra special as that was when she enjoyed another television notable, Reverend Robert Schuller from the Crystal Cathedral in Los Angeles, California. Being a devout woman of faith, Pastor Schuller provided Louise a welcomed balance to draw from and to use in her daily walk. Yet of all the passions Louise enjoyed, nothing could match the joy and pleasure she found in her family and the many wonderful memories they created together. Family meant the world to her, and she was always happiest when surrounded in their presence. Louise touched a multitude of hearts and souls along the pathway of her life and enjoyed a long and fruitful journey,...leaving behind a legacy of love that will be remembered with each reflection shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Louise was the beloved mother of Twyla (Donald) Burgett, Marilyn (Jerry) Trevisan, and Jerri-Lou (Joe) Johnson. She is also survived by many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by brothers, Lyle, Fay, Lewis, Cecil, and Stanley. Visitation for Louise will take place on Thursday, July 2nd from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road) in Warren. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, 10:00 am at the funeral home.
