Leonard William Pawlowski, age 82 of St. Clair Shores, died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at home.He was born on September 21, 1930 in Detroit, son of the late August and the late Genevieve (nee: Burzynski) Pawlowski.Employed as a Service Manager in the automotive industry, Leonard extended the utmost in loyalty and dedication to his work until the time of his retirement. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed a number of entertaining pastimes. Like most men, this would often mean a sit-down in front of the television taking in one of his favorite sporting events. For Leonard, this meant either a little hockey action, perhaps some football, or experiencing the thrill of a NASCAR race. As for the latter choice, that just might explain his penchant and desire for driving fast. When Leonard was behind the wheel, you'd be wise to steer clear and get out of his way. He loved to race,...it was in his blood. And if you happened to be in the car with him, it was basically..."Get in, sit down, shut up and hang on!" On those occasions when driving took on a more subtle pace, one of his favorite places to visit was Michigan's Little Bavaria ~ the quaint town of Frankenmuth. For those who truly knew Leonard, the phrases stubborn and outspoken just might have been the operative words to describe their loved one or friend. But if you were to ask the man himself, the words confident and assured would have probably weighed more heavily. How else could you explain his moniker, "If he didn't know it, it wasn't worth knowing." Or his ever-popular. "I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong." Leonard was also the kind of guy who loved to be waited on,...especially when it came to being served his favorite beverage, a tasty cup of coffee. From his softer side, there's no question that Leonard was a good father and provider. He possessed a heart of gold and was incredibly generous and giving. He loved all children as if they were his own,...but his own were definitely cherished and adored. Family meant the world to Leonard, and the importance of their togetherness reigned supreme. If you were blessed to be within his circle of friends and family, that fact became endearingly clear by his donning you with a unique nickname. If he assigned you a nickname, you were "in like flynn!" And there were many who were called by something other than their given name,...those countless hearts and lives that crossed his path throughout the years and left an impact. He leaves behind many wonderful and memorable highlights of the people and times that molded his life, and the lives that were changed by his. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally. He was the beloved husband of Patricia. Loving father of Craig (Mary) Pawlowski, and Lynn (Ron) Opatich. Devoted grandfather of Tracy (Craig) Richardson, Eric (Melissa) Vincent, and Amanda Pawlowski. Great grandfather of Isabella, Jacob, Jax, and Jesse. Brother of Frederick (Marge), and the late Alfred, and August Pawlowski. Visitation for Leonard will be held on Sunday from 11am until the time of his Funeral Service at 5pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 1/2) Mile), Warren. Please share memories at his guest book.
