Larry Wayne Kennedy, age 82 of Warren, died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at home. He was born May 2, 1935 in Oscoda, Michigan, son of the late Roy and the late May (nee: Kelly) Kennedy.Born in Oscoda, it was somewhere between 1962 and 1963 that Larry decided to relocate to the southeastern part of Michigan where he began a new chapter in his life. For the next 26 plus years, Larry enjoyed his "southern experience" and made a comfortable life for himself in the world of bachelorhood. Then everything changed when a beautiful woman came into the picture and stole his heart. Soon afterwards, Cupid's arrow would cement the deal and lead them both to the altar on August 8, 1988. It was on that momentous day that they shared their vows, became husband & wife, and went on to enjoy 30 years of marriage together. Larry will always be remembered for his work as the Maintenance Director at the University of Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods. Keeping the building operations running smoothly was his realm of responsibility, a job he did with the utmost in professionalism and pride.Speaking of pride, Larry was also known for his deep & abiding patriotism and love of country. Always reflective and in touch with the price that's been paid for freedom's sake, America had no better banner waver than Larry. When work wasn't calling Larry's name, some of his favorite pastimes were of the sporting nature, one of which included hunting. Larry was an avid deer hunter and was always eager to join the throngs of his fellow deer-slayers in the woods of Michigan's back country. Known for being the consummate outdoorsman, hunting and the camaraderie that ensued had Larry's name written all over it and was truly something he lived for each year. On a different sporting note, Larry was also an avid & devoted Red Wings fan who always had the backs of his Boys in the Winged Wheel. As for something close to home, another treasured pastime of Larry's embodied the pride and nurturing that were evidenced by his beautiful yard and the splendor it provided to his family and neighbors alike. Imbued with the tender-loving-care and meticulous skills needed for such a task, Larry's yard was more of a gallery than a garden. But whatever you called it, you never walked away without being immensely inspired by his incredible talents.A loving husband, father and grandfather, Larry's life emanated all the wonderful attributes of a true "family man" and provider. In his own way, he touched a multitude of hearts and lives in his journey through life and leaves a legacy of love for all to embrace who were blessed to know him. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.Larry was the beloved husband of Sally, and dear father of Phillip Jones and Natalie (Alan) Morrissette. Loving grandfather of Spencer Morrissette and Lindsey Jones and step grandfather of Josh Morrissette. Brother of Donna (Bob) Graham, and preceded in death by 7 other siblings. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial service is being considered for a future date and time. Interment has already taken place.Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 1/2 Mile Road) in Warren. Please share memories of Larry at his memory book above.
