Born in Flint and raised in Warren, Larry attended East Detroit Schools before embarking on a noble journey of service to his country. He honorably served in both the United States Army and Navy, demonstrating unwavering commitment to defending the freedoms we hold dear. Larry dedicated a significant part of his life to Ford Automotive, contributing to the industry he loved. His hard work and dedication earned him a well-deserved retirement, allowing him to focus on the things that brought him the most joy.
For 63 years, Larry shared a loving and enduring marriage with his beloved wife, Sally. Their partnership was a testament to the strength of love and commitment. Larry and Sally's journey together was filled with shared passions, adventures, and a deep connection that stood the test of time. Larry was an active and engaged member of the Warren community, giving back through his involvement in organizations such as the Elks, VFW, and Lions Club. His philanthropic spirit shone through as he dedicated time to charity work for disabled children, leaving a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
Larry found joy in various activities. Whether it was the camaraderie of bowling, the thrill of hunting and fishing, the serenity of camping, the challenge of completing puzzles, or the fascination with collecting coins, Larry embraced life with enthusiasm. Known for his captivating storytelling, Larry had a remarkable ability to weave tales that entertained and enlightened those around him. His infectious laughter and warm spirit endeared him to friends and family alike.
Larry's love for dancing not only brought joy to his own heart but also led him to the love of his life, Sally. Their shared love for dancing became a symbol of their enduring connection, a dance that continued through the highs and lows of life.
Above all, Larry treasured the time spent with his family. Whether creating lasting memories during family gatherings or offering support and guidance, he was a loving presence that will be deeply missed.
Larry's legacy lives on through the memories he created, the lives he touched, and the love he shared. May he rest in eternal peace.
Larry was the beloved husband of Sally. Loving father of Dennis (Sherry), Tina (Donald) Phillips, Scott (Rhonda Pilecki), and Sheree (Scott) Parker. Cherished grandfather of Samantha (Dan), Andrew (Amanda), Ashley (David), Angie (Christopher), Donald, Kathryn, Christopher, and DJ. Adored great-grandfather of 10. Dear brother of the late Irene and the late Gloria.
Visitation for Larry will be held on Wednesday, January 17th from 3-7pm with a 6pm Military Honors Service and a time for sharing at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common Road (12 1/2 Mile), Warren, MI.
