Julia "Jean" Rabe, age 91 of Warren, died Friday, May 20, 2016 at home. She was born April 4, 1925 in Detroit, daughter of the late Frank J. and the late Sophia M. (nee: Janick) Smolenski.A small but important cog in the machine of the automotive industry, Jean was quite proud of her career as a secretary with the Chrysler Motors Corporation which spanned many years. She always poured the best part of her work ethics into getting the job done, and ultimately accepted her well-deserved retirement after extending the utmost in dedicated service to the company.When it was time to play, that often meant you'd see Jean grabbing her bowling bag and heading for the lanes. Whether with just a couple of friends, or joining with the masses in league play, Jean loved everything about the joys and pleasures of bowling,…forever in search of that Perfect 300 Game!Many will also remember what a devout woman of God Jean was and how her faith ran very deep. Devoted both to the church and to her fellow man, she possessed a servant's heart that emanated compassion and charity in her own unique way. Considering others more important than herself, she truly lived out her faith and did her best to fulfill God's Great Commission in life. A loving wife and sister,…Jean may have come from a family that was small in number, but was definitely large on caring. She leaves behind a storehouse of precious memories to be embraced by those who were blessed to know this wonderful lady,…she will be missed immensely. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Charles, dear sister of the late Mary Smolenski, and loving friend of Joann Beste and Kathy Lewis. Visitation for Jean will be held Sunday, May 22nd from 4-8 pm, with a 6:30 pm Scripture Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd) in Warren. She will lie in state on Monday from 10:00 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Faustina Catholic Church in Warren. Officiating the funeral liturgy will be Rev. Fr. Nick Zukowski. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Memorial donations are welcomed to St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093.
