Had the pleasure of knowing John at st.clement from 1980 to 1984 coaching football.  Even though there was over twenty years difference in out ages, John and I got along well.  I was often entertained by johns stories and remember John always wanting to throw the damn pop pass during games!   As a worker for dps, John would sometime stop by my school where I was teaching physical eduction  to talk with me even after our staff had left st. Clement.  

I remember fondly spending Thanksgiving at Uncle John and Aunt Theresa’s for many years with our family.  Many great times talking football and tigers baseball, and playing in the golf league with him.  I always looked forward to playing in his foursome.   His good nature and ready smile made everyone feel loved. God bless you Uncle John.  

Teresa and John's house was my home away from home every summer. John had a big heart that welcomed everyone.  He was a caring  brother-in-law to me and a loving uncle to my children.  His memory will live on in our hearts.  May he rest in peace.

My Uncle John was the youngest of my mom's 3 brothers and my God Father. Growing up without a father I had a special relationship with all my uncles, but Uncle John will always be remembered to me as the fun Uncle. He and Auntie Terri let me spend several weeks in the summer playing in the backyard pool and bbq. The best part was when he would get home from work and jump right in with us kids. A fun loving, happy, no non-sense kind a guy who was always there when anyone needed him. He will always be in my heart RIP sweet Uncle. This is a picture of him with his mother Katie and only sister my mom.

I will always remember celebrating the holiday's at Uncle John and Aunt Teresa's house, my Grandma Paolazzi's house or my parents house. Hanging out with the family. On some occasions Aunt Pam (from Memphis) and Uncle Johnny (from California) would join then you could experience Uncle John's favorite line to Uncle Johnny "Get Outta Here!!!" which I believe is on film. You could also experience some songs and even a few Uncle John originals. I think one of them goes "If the ocean were whiskey and I was a duck, I'd swim to the bottom and never come up."  Great times.  You were loved by many and will be missed.

Coach Udvare grew people from boys to men. He had a profound impact on me as a football player and as person. Coach’s enthusiasm was something that fired us up! “ Put ‘em in the nickel seats!”, “ Leave everything on the field”. Thank you Coach for all that you have done for the St. Clement community. 

I am proud to have been one of the many young men that had the opportunity to be a player for Coach Udvare. As a coach, he taught and prepared us to always give your best effort to  be successful  as a team on game day. I will never forget the three years at St Clement  (1976-1978) that I had the opportunity to be coached by Coach Udvare. 

Coach you will be missed.


Always enjoyed being around John. a great coach,and even a better man. If you played for John and big Al, you became a better man. RIP brother.


If the rumor is true that in the next world beyond, we will be assigned to jobs that we are perfectly suited for, and love to do.  I can only envision Coach Udvare perched on top of a blocking sled looking down over a team of young and eager Catholic boys.  No doubt, he will be shouting out colorful one-liners as words of encouragement.  Such as, “We play through the whistle, and never leave a block in your pocket”.
Rest in Peace coach.  The St. Clement family was lucky to have you.

Coach, you were a thread in the tapestry of life that tied St. Clement together as a family. Thank you for your care and dedication. RIP 

I grew up around St. Clement football and Coach Udvare.  I watched him coach when I was a little kid and was proud to play for him in high school! He challenged me and always encouraged me. Even when I was “a day late and a dollar short!”   RIP Coach. 

A man of great integrity and commitment  to young people for many years,  One of my favorite coaches at St. Clement. Rests in Peace.

John was in my life for as long as I can remember.  He and my sister dated in high school when I was 4 or 5.  When they married  I was their flower girl and moved on in years to babysitter and friend.  Jim and I enjoyed many vacations with him and Teresa, visiting Johnny in California,  state parks , Disney, etc.
One fond memory driving with my brother in Lake Tahoe, and Teresa and John singing tunes in the back seat ….aka Steve and Edie.   Great times.
I remember him as being honest, straight forward….always having words of advice.
You will be missed dear brother in law.
