Such heart breaking news to hear about big John as we called him at Country oven in warren. He was such a lovely man full of laughter and jokes. May he rest in peace. My condolences to the family.

I used to play a lot of golf with Mr. Smith he loved the game we used to play at Maple Lane I would take him as a partner and he didn’t mind putting a few dollars on the game either always a gentleman One time I was playing a guy named Kenny Trombly and Mr. Smith bet $300 on me but he had a dinner date with Judge Jeanette at Andiamo‘s I got lucky and won the game I remember driving up there he was having dinner he invited me to sit down ordered me something to eat and I paid him the money that he won I will miss Mr. Smith my name is Reynold Gutz Back then I was known as Butch rest well Mr. Smith

Michael, Mary, Kathy and Family-
Please accept our condolences at the passing of your Dad. I will always have special memories of our childhood and Sundays spent at our Grandparents with all the Uncles, Aunts and Cousins. I hope you find peace knowing he will be reunited with your Mom, along with his parents and siblings. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My sincere sympathies go out to the extended family of John. Growing up down the street and being best friend to Mary for most of my life, I feel like part of the family.  I wish you all great memories of fun times spent together during happier healthy days.  We keep our loved ones alive through the memories we hold.  Hold onto the good ones.

John, with the sharp guy he could remember people name first, and last never gave up on life. He was talking about going to Mr. Paul’s, with his friends love his old cars. My condolences to his family rest in peace, my friend.

I am so saddened  to hear of the passing of my Uncle John. He was blessed with a long life and  left all of us so many memories. Peace and God’s blessings to the whole family.

If you were lucky enough to walk into Andiamo on 14 mile and hear that Bellowing , Infectious Laugh, you knew there was a good chance JOHN W was  " holding court ".

In nice weather, if you were lucky enough  to be at Maple Lane Golf Course and you walked into the club house, there might 5, maybe 10 Gentlemen seated  at a table and there was that same joyous laughter....John W was " holding court "

I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet him.

I am so sorry to hear this. I have the absolute best childhood memories of Mr Smith and his wife Joanne and of course Kathy. I am now living back in my mother's house across the street from Mr Smith and would speak to him. He always had a smile and he always waved and he was the friendliest and nicest man. I am deeply saddened by this. My deepest condolences to the family.

My mom and I cleaned for John in the past.  Though I have not seen John in some time I’ve always thought he was a stand up guy and he was.
John’s character was larger than life and stood by his convictions be it family, politics, etc. He was straight forward and I respected that. 
John Loved his family and cherished Joannes memory. He would often say “Derek; she was a Knockout”.  To be loved like that… 
John W. Is missed and his memory will live on until my hour glass runs out. Peace and Love be with John W. Smith and family.

One of my favorite memories of my pops was when I was a little girl. We would have weekly Sunday dinners at his house with all the aunts, uncles and cousins. During the summer time it was the best because he had a pool and we would swim for hours. Most Sundays he would gather all the granddaughters and let them choose one rose from his garden. He would cut them from the bush and present them to us. I remember feeling very special and princess-like when Emily, Lizzie and I would all hold our chosen roses and smell them.  He loved us so so much.
