Joan Marie Motyka , age 81, died Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. She was born October 1, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to the late John Bara and the late Anna (nee: Kapanowski) Bara. For 60 years, Joan shared a home and nurtured a loving and devoted relationship with her soulmate and sweetheart, Leonard. The two became husband & wife on May 12, 1956 and basked in the glow of an inseparable life of joy together....even when the going got tough at times, Leonard reflects on how faithful, understanding and devout his wife remained through it all. In the hearts of family and friends alike, their marriage truly exemplified the "two becoming one."When Joan wasn't raising her four children and using the eyes in the back of head like all mom's do, she loved escaping to her garden where the work of her hands & heart was evidenced by the beautiful flowers and vegetables in her yard. And as much as her caring nature was seen through her gardening talents, it was the people in her life that truly benefited from Joan's care-giving gifts. She lived for taking care of others and she was loved by all who knew her. Always smiling, never angry,...she was known as being the most even-keeled person around. Her beliefs were her guidepost and she was devout to her catholic faith. Joan enriched the lives of so many, in a multitude of ways, and her memory will live on in their hearts forever.Joan was the beloved wife of Leonard. Loving mother of Raymond (Lisa), Nancy, Steven (Renae), and the late David. Devoted grandmother of Jenna, Rachel, Joshua, Jacob, Corrie, and Lilliana. Sister of Edwin, and the late Edward, Bernard, Stanley, and Jean. Sister in law of Theresa (Harvey) Matthews, and Lawrence Motyka. She is also survived by many loving family member and friends.
