Joan Carol Hyde

Joan was a dedicated worker, having worked with Michigan Bell (now Ameritech) for 27 years. While working she spent 16 years taking one college course a semester to get her Bachelor’s degree and after retiring she went back and worked towards a law degree. She redirected her work ethic when she retired to being on the Japhet school board where her grandsons attended school. Dancing was one of her passions. For over 65 years, she would ballroom dance with her husband, Robert. Staying active not only with dance, but she was also a member at Fitness 19 where she would work out daily as well as at home on the treadmill. Family meant the world to her. Growing up she had strong family ties with her parents and brother. She kept these strong ties as she grew her own family. She was incredibly close with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She would take them on her vacations to Washington D.C. and Myrtle Beach. She loved spoiling them with her perfectly baked cookies, cakes, pies, and anything else they wanted. Joan’s faith was incredibly strong. She went to church at First Church of Christ Scientist in Rochester, Michigan, was class taught and a member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist Boston, MA. Over the years she served in many ways as board chair, ushering, and teaching Sunday school.

Joan is the beloved wife of Robert Hyde. The cherished mother of Julie (Timothy) Knaffla and Robert Hyde. The treasured grandmother of Timothy (Lauren) Knaffla, Scott (Amanda) Knaffla, and Blake Knaffla and great grandmother of Grace, Kate, and Annabelle. Dear sister of Grant Collins.

A visitation for Joan will be held Friday, April 22, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, Michigan 48088. An instate will occur Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:30 AM, until time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM, 32000 Schoenherr Rd, Warren, Michigan 48088.
