Jerry L. Foote, age 81, of Warren, Michigan passed away peacefully and bravely, surrounded by his family, on Friday, June 24, 2022. Jerry was born June 21, 1941, in South Haven Michigan, to his loving parents LaVerne and Alice Foote.
Jerry is he beloved husband of 51 years to the late Viola Rose Foote. The loving father of Timothy (Terri) Foote, Paul (Van Anh) Foote, the late Matthew Foote, Beth (Sean) Waymaster and Sarah (David) Shorkey. Cherished grandfather of Alexandra, Jacob, Jeremiah, Jack, Katie, Micah, Matthew, Tess, Brie, and Zachary.
Jerry was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he was an Air Policeman. He was a very dedicated elder at his church, the Liberty Church, in Sterling Heights. He was a generous man who gave his time and energy to others. He participated in Mission Trips to Africa and Kosovo, was involved with Forgotten Harvest, and was recognized by the mayor of Warren with an award for his volunteer work. He loved and served his community in any way he could. When he lived in Detroit, he was the head of the Neighborhood Watch. At his current residence, he stopped in and checked on his elderly neighbors, always thinking of others before himself. Everyone who knew him became family to Jerry. He touched many people’s lives and became unforgettable to those who met him. When he retired from GM, he was a custodian for Zoe Christian Academy. After nearly twenty years, a nurse in the emergency room recognized Jerry and remembered him fondly from his time at the school. Jerry loved camping in his camper and tending to his garden. He was a master gardener and he loved giving out his zucchini and tomatoes with family, friends, and neighbors. All who knew Jerry felt his generosity, his selfless heart, and his deep faith in God. He is now rejoicing and praising God in Heaven.
Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, July 17, at 10:00AM at the Liberty Church, 34725 Ryan Road, Sterling Heights, Michigan.
