Jerome Joseph ("Jerry") Colleran, age 82, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren, Michigan. Jerome was born April 16, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, son the the late Joseph William Colleran and the late Anne Helen (nee: Pilkowski) Colleran.Jerome was raised in Detroit and later entered the United States Navy during the Korean War from August 1, 1952, until his honorable discharge in Boston, Massachusetts on April 6, 1956. While in the Navy, Jerome spent one year and eight months in Sidi Yahia, French Morocco, North Africa, and acted as a Radio Operator ultimately attaining the rank of Cryptologic Technician Third Class.Jerome was employed for 37 years with Burroughs, Burroughs OEM, Memorex OEM and Unisys. During Jerome's employment, he held the following job titles: Field Engineer, Project Support Engineer, Senior Engineer, Senior Writer, Senior Applications Engineer, Technical Manager (Memorex OEM) and Support Section Manager. Jerome is survived by his dear children, Kathryn (Gilbert) Searle, Joseph (Kimberly) Colleran, Thomas (Erin) Colleran, Carol (the late William) Anthony, Kenneth (Teresa) Colleran, Christine (Leon) Compton, and their mother, Martha Colleran. He was the beloved brother of Patricia (Avis) Long, Lorretta Turner, the late Dolores DeGalleford, and is also survived by his 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.Visitation for Mr. Colleran will be held on Friday, June 23rd from 3-9pm, with a 7pm Evening Vigil Service, at the D.S.
