Janis was born on February 2, 1952 in Detroit, MI to her parents John and Evelyn Trefil.
Those who knew Janis knew that she was blessed with a gift that very few possess in this life. One that those who were fortunate enough to be around always benefited from. Janis was many things to many people, but above all, she was a creator. She loved crafting and candle making. The only thing she loved more than crafting was all her pets: Dillan, Milkdud, Spencer, Cookie, and Snowball. In addition to creating wonderful crafts, Janis also created a kind and safe space for those around her. With a kind word, a classic sense of humor, and a lack of judgment, she effortlessly curated a calm and peace that let you know it was going to be alright. Though a small-statured woman, it seemed effortless for her to lift those up around her. Janis will be greatly missed by all who love her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years Thomas Stickel, children Kelly DiCicco and Chris (Traci) Stickel, grandson Tyler DiCicco, granddaughters Isabella DiCicco, Evelyn Stickel and Eleanor Stickel, siblings Dennis (Cindy) Trefil, Carole (Brian) Krempa and Donald (Arlene) Trefil. Janis is also survived by many family, friends and those who were blessed having known her.
Friends may visit the AH Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, Warren, MI 48088, on Monday, December 4, 2023 from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a funeral service at 7:00 P.M.
